Jaco Nightlife Guide – Jaco, Costa Rica

Jaco Nightlife Guide for Groups

Downtown Jacó is the busiest nightlife area on Costa Rica’s central Pacific coast, with bars, clubs, casinos and restaurants within a few blocks of the beach. This guide lists well-known places groups ask about and explains how to plan a night out safely. Venues change often, so check opening hours, entry policies and current details directly with each venue before you go; we do not list hours, prices or promotions.

Where Jaco nightlife happens

Most bars and clubs are in downtown Jacó, along and around Avenida Pastor Díaz, the main street running parallel to the beach. Because the area is compact, groups staying downtown can walk between venues. The Breakwater Point condos and Casa Azul are well placed for this; homes in Los Sueños and Playa Hermosa are a short drive away.

Bars and breweries

  • La Bruja – a bar on Avenida Pastor Díaz.
  • PuddleFish Brewery – a craft brewery and bar in Jacó.
  • Green Room – a bar known for live music and local beers.
  • Los Amigos Sportsbar & Grill – a sports bar with food.
  • The Back Room – a bar in downtown Jacó.
  • Rolling Thunder Saloon – a bar in Jacó.
  • Moonshines – a bar in Jacó.

Clubs and lounges

  • Le Loft – a nightclub on Avenida Pastor Díaz.
  • Republik Lounge – a club and lounge in downtown Jacó.

Casinos

  • Croc’s Resort & Casino – a beachfront resort with a casino in downtown Jacó, near the Breakwater Point condos.
  • Hotel Cocal & Casino – a beachfront hotel with a casino in downtown Jacó.

Restaurants for a group dinner before going out

  • Jacó Rustico
  • Tsunami Sushi
  • Hola India
  • Lemon Zest

Book large tables in advance, especially on weekends and in the dry season. Or start the night at the villa with a private chef dinner.

Getting there and back safely

  • Plan the ride home before you go out; never drive after drinking.
  • From Los Sueños or Playa Hermosa, book a driver for the night (see our transportation guide).
  • Stay together as a group and agree on a meeting point.
  • Keep only what you need with you; leave passports and spare cards at the villa.
  • Carry ID, as some venues check it at the door.
  • Drink water between drinks; the heat and humidity add up.

Where to stay for nightlife

If nights out are the priority, choose a downtown base: the four Breakwater Point units can be booked together for up to 18 guests, and Casa Azul is a centrally located condo for up to 4 guests. Casa Amarillo is about a 15-minute walk from downtown. Our Jaco bachelor party villas guide compares the areas in more detail.
