Enjoy pleasant winter weather

Don’t get us wrong: we love fresh powdery snow, hot cocoa, and ice skating. We adore everything about the holiday season! But you could also be sunbathing on the beach with a cool drink in hand, enjoying a sunny afternoon in the middle of December. You won’t have to worry about the negative effects of winter weather in Jaco. Snow does not turn to ice there, and you can enjoy the fresh air, ocean, and surrounding natural wonders.

Discover Tico Christmas and holiday traditions.

Another reason to go to Jaco during the holidays is to try out new holiday traditions. Ticos (Costa Ricans) celebrate Christmas and the holiday season in unique ways. Christmas Eve is the most important holiday in Costa Rica. There are large gatherings that include a traditional feast (more on that below). There are also interesting flower displays throughout town. Ticos, for example, make nativity scenes out of tropical flowers and local fruit to display in front of their homes. Carolers will also most likely be reenacting Mary and Joseph’s search for shelter.
